A group of Cranford AC Juvenile Athletes travelled to Templemore to compete in Olympican AC Winter Track & Field open event.
On what was a very wet day it didn’t dampen these young athletes spirits, our day got off to a great start with Tara Mc Garvey getting our first medal in the Girls U9 60m and Jerry Coyle having a great day with Gold in the 60m and Gold in the 300m Jerry led from start to finish well done Jerry.
Our U10 ‘s were up next with Karen Neely getting 3rd in her 60m and had a good run in the 500m coming home in 4th. Claona OConnell had a good day running very well in both her 60m and 600m, this was Claona’s first competition for Cranford AC. Killian Caldwell got off to a great start in the 60m and held on well to the finish in 3rd place getting himself a bronze medal and had a fine performance in the 500m coming home in 5th.
Diarmuid Gallagher was our only boy under 11. Diarmuid ran well in both the 60m sprint and 600m.
In the u12 events Miah Fletcher had a great day winning Gold in the 600m and silver in the Sprint with Caolan Mc Fadden winning the 600m leading from the Gun.
Our Girls U13 had a very good day with Clodagh Neely winning Silver in both the 60m and 600m, Blathnaid Gallagher won Bronze in both events and was followed closely by Ainne O’Connell – great to see these girls form improve.
Orla Neely had a very good run in the 800m coming home in 3rd place and getting a well deserved bronze medal. Teresa Mullen also had a good day winning Gold in the long jump and silver in the 60m.
Caitlin O’Hara ran in both the 60m and 800m, Caitlin ran a very good 800m and was laying in 3rd place for most of the race and got pipped on the line coming home in 4th. Oisin Kelly had a fine performance in the boys U15 800m leading from start to finish.
