Belfast International cross country
A bright and calm day welcomed us at the picturesque Billy Neill Country park in Belfast on Saturday.
Cranfords Caolan McFadden was selected to represent Ni and Ulster in the under 17 international event today and the 14 year old Creeslough man was well prepared for this 6 km run around three large laps of the undulating country park. The course provided plenty of variety with hills, flats, mud and parklands.
Caolan was well placed the the front half of this mixed under17 and under 20 pack after the first lap. Caolan maintained his strong position around 11th in his age group throughout the race, with grit and determination Caolan finished this race strongly in a very respectable 9th place in this international competition.
Also running today was Miah Fletcher who enjoyed competing against National rivals although Miah has not quite returned to full fitness after a bout of illness nevertheless benefited from today’s experience.
Thank you to the family and supporters who travelled to Belfast today.
Training continues for the track and field season each Tuesday and Thursday evening 6.30pm at Tramore training ground.
