All roads lead to Finn Valley center on Friday evening to compete in the Donegal Children Games U9,10 and 11. We had 13 athletes compete for Cranford AC. Our U9 Girls were Olivia Ni Curran, Aimee Bassett and Niamh Mc Geever, Olivia had a very good evening with running in both the 60m and 300m and with a great jump in the long jump claiming the Silver medal. Aimee had equally a good evening with qualifying for the final of the 60m and with a smile on her face in the 300m she had a great jump in the long jump coming home in first place and claiming the title Donegal Champion. Niamh was making her debut for Cranford and a very busy evening she had she did very well with running in the 60m 300m and throwing in the turbo well done Girls.
Lorcan Boyce was our only boy U 9 with a strong run in the 60m and 300m he went on to be part of the U 10 relay team who won Gold medals.
Our U 10 girls were Anna Giles and Orla Cunningham, Anna put in a good performance in the 60m and turbo javelin and had a gutsy run in the 300m. Orla had a fine run in the 60m and good throwing in the turbo.
Our U 10 boys were very impressive with Jerry Coyle, Cíaron Cooney and Odhran McGroddy, Jerry was in great form on Friday evening winning both the long jump and 60m great evening for this young lad. Cíaron had a great long jump earning himself a bronze medal. Odhran ran very well and ran a fantastic first leg of the relay these boys were all part of the winning relay team U 10.
Cliodhna Mc Bride and Karen Neely were our girls U 11 Cliodhna had a great evening and was in top form and was a clear winner in both the 60m and 600m and coming 2nd in the long what a great evening for cliodhna. Karen had a fine performance in the 500m fighting to the end.
Our U11 boys were killian Caldwell and Colin Gallagher, killian was very impressive in the long jump narrowly missing out on a medal Colin had a good 60m both boys were part of the boys U 11 boys relay team who came 2nd.
On Sunday Cranford had 14 athletes travel to Templemore to compete in the Paddy O Donnell Memorial Track and Field Event along with the Donegal relays.
It was another successful day for Cranford with Caolan McFadden coming home with a gold in the 800m and 3rd in the long Jump.
Cíaron Cooney was in great form coming home with 3 Gold medals for the 500m long jump and 60m.
Lorcan Boyce was in good form claiming the bronze medal in the 60m.
Karen Neely had a good run in the 600m. Olivia Ni Curran was up next and got into the final of the 60m and got pipped on the line for 3rd. Killian Caldwell was Cranford only boy U12 and had a good run in the 600m.
Blathnaid Gallagher competed very well in the shot put and gained herself a bronze medal.
Orla Neely also had a good day taking the silver medal in the Javelin and bronze in the shot putt.
Miah Fletcher had a great run in the U14 800m coming home in first and her teammate Clodagh Neely came home in 3rd great running by these girls.
Amy Cullen is going from strength to strength with a new Pb in her long jump and getting Gold in both the long jump and 60m sprint.
Ellie Mc Fadden was also in good from getting bronze in the long jump.
The Donegal Relays were held at the end of the day with Cranford having three teams compete Girls U 13, 14 and 15 all three teams doing very well with all teams getting silver medals.
