Donegal championships Novice and even ages cross country in Carndonagh.

It has been a while since Cranford had a novice team entry so it was fabulous today to support our Ladies team representing Cranford AC in the Novice race over 3k. These ladies have been very dedicated attending training and putting in a huge personal effort to compete today. The first lap of this winding course got off to a fast pace, and the ladies worked strongly throughout battling to keep their positions. Anne Mc Bride brought this team home followed by Sinead Giles,Caroline Ní Curran and Dymphna Gallagher. This was a gutsy performance by this new team.

Declan Mc Bride had a tough run in the mens novice over 6k of this course. Declan dug deep to hold his position finishing strongly in this field of talented athletes.

Our junior athletes were out in force today also and first to compete for Cranford were our Under 8 teams over 500m of this course.

Sadhbh McBride bronze medal  , Briana Caldwell (17)  and Allanah ni Curran (16) following on from their parents on this course and Sarah Boyce.(19)

Under 10 1000m

Fiadh Mc Ginley , fought hard today and just missed on a medal in 4th place. Megan  Logue (29) Also had a great race finishing strongly in this large field of Donegal athletes.

oisin Gilesl (24)was first home for this team closely followed by Faolan Caldwell (26)James Cooney (32) Seamus Mc Closkey, (40) Harry McHugh, (42) Darragh Mc Hugh (39) This team just missed out on medals finishing 4th place.

The Under 12s had a tough race over 1500m of this track and Amy Bassett (23) put in a fine performances

What an exciting race our under 12 boys put on, staying with the lead pack from the whistle Oisin Mc bride held his form fighting throughout and finishing strongly in Silver medal position, Oisin Mc Hugh (11) was next home again with a strong run, Roan Ladley, (23)Matthew Giles, (14) Ben Mc Gee, (17) Edward Boyce, (32) Rory Boyce, (39);Lorcan Boyce (38) all put in great performances today around this fast track in Carndonagh.

Under14 girls race saw Lilla Gerwatowska (13) setting a good pace in the lead pack around 2 laps of this this track to run a challenging 2500m closely followed by Eabha Brennan (16) , Karen Neely (20) and the team was brought home by Aedin Mc Hugh. (22) Great performance by these girls and finishing in a well deserved 2nd team.

Darragh Mc Hugh had a stunning race staying with the lead pack throughout this fast paced 2500m course and finishing strongly in 3rd place, Ciaran Cooney, (12) Oran Mc Groddy (7) and Cian Mc Hugh (21) brought this team home in bronze medal position.

under 16 girls were up for the challenge over 3000m of this track Miah Fletcher lost her hold on the lead pack after the first lap but managed to hold on for a 5th place finish Laoise Lynch held a steady pace throughout and finished a respectable 13th place closely followed by Lara Blaney in  14th place and Amy Cullen (18) demonstrated her sprinting skills fighting off stiff competition and gaining three places in the final 100m push. Great racing by these girls today, and winning a silver team medal.

Caolan McFadden again led from the start of this 3500m winding track for the under 16 boys event. Caolan stretched his lead out to 200m with a strong run to earn his Gold medal today.

Clodagh Neely stretched her race legs today in the under 18 girls event running over 3500m. Great to see Clodagh back in action today and finishing strongly in 5th place.

To finish the day of exciting racing Oisin Kelly had a strong run in the Under 18 boys 5 k Oisin challenged every step of the way and crowned Donegal Champion.
