It was great to see such a good crowd of Cranford athletes turn up to compete in the little Athletics competition hosted by Finn Valley. The weather was kind to us and the competition was run off very smoothly and on time.
First up for Cranford was Sarah Coyle, Sarah had a great run this was her first race for Cranford and what a great start she came home in 6th place. Faolan Caldwell ran in the 60m U6 he stormed up the straight to claim the Gold medal and our first medal of the evening.What a great start to the evening.
Next up was Matthew Giles and Matthew Mc Fadden our U7’s in their debut for Cranford AC put in fine performances and can’t wait to their next run out.
Aimee Bassett and Olivia Ni Curran took to the track next and both had a great 60m Aimee making it to the final of the sprint just missing out on a medal but she made up for it in the long jump Jumping her way into bronze medal position and Olivia ended up in 4th place with over 30 athletes in this event well done girls.
Lorcan Boyce was up next, Lorcan had a busy evening competing in the 60m, Turbo Javelin, long jump and 300m and doing well in all events and gaining great experience for the future.
Our U10 team were made up of Anna Giles, Orla Cunningham, Odhràn McGroddy, Ciaràn Cooney and Jerry Coyle.
Anna had a good throw in the turbo Javelin and a strong run in the 60m, Orla ran well in the 300m and did well in the long jump, Odhràn had a good evening competing in the long jump and Turbo Javelin he had a gutsy performance in the 300m finishing in 8th place. Ciaràn was unlucky not to medal in both the 60m and 300m finishing just outside in both but had good strong performance. Jerry had a great evening going home with 3 medals coming 1st in the 60m and 3rd in the 300m great performance by this young lad.
Our u11 Girls were Cliodhna McBride and Karen Neely, Cliodhna had a great evening coming home with three gold medals in the long jump 60m and 500m their was no stopping her in the 500m led from start to finish. Karen had a good throw in the turbo javelin and came home in 9th place in the 500m. Killian Caldwell was our only U11 boy and with a good jump in the long jump and a strong performance in his 500m fighting to the end.
Miah Fletcher was in great form and from the gun lead from the start to finish in the Girls U13 600m. Amy Cullen got her evening off to a good start coming home in 3rd place in the 60m and it got even better as she won silver in the long jump great performance by this young girl.
Caolan McFadden had a great evening with a great run in the 600m led from start to finish.
Next up was Clodagh Neely, Clodagh had a good strong run in the 600m coming home in 3rd place and also came 3rd in the javelin well done Clodagh.
Finishing the evening for Cranford was Eoin Friel in the U13 Boys 600m Eoin stayed with the leaders through out the race and with a good finish from Eoin claiming the bronze medal.

We had two athletes travel to Antrim Forum on Saturday to compete in the Ulster schools Championship both representing their school Loreto Milford Orla Neely Competed in the Javelin and got on well and gaining great experience to be competing at this level, Oisin Kelly had a great race in the 800m and ran under 2 minutes getting a new Personal best and claiming the Ulster title he now qualifies for the National in early June.
