Cranford A.C. finished the cross country season with some fine performances at the All-Ireland ‘B’ competition in Gransha, Derry on Sunday morning last. In wet and heavy underfoot conditions, this well organised event yielded some more national medals for our athletes. The U-11 girls were well represented by Molly Trearty, Lisa Dugera and Aobha Gallagher who all ran well. Molly finished very strongly in 16th position and earned a very well deserved silver medal on the Donegal team, who finished in second position.

This was a great achievement for Molly in her first year in competition. The U-11 boys were also well represented by Allan Neeley, Tiernan Mc Bride and Luke Downey. All the boys ran well and gained great experience, especially Tiernan Mc Bride, running in his first cross country event. The U-13 girls were represented by Anna Mc Fadden, Niamh Mc Devitt, Laura Dugera, Michelle Mc Devitt, Thea Duffy and Rionach Giles, finishing fourth in the club team event. The U-13 boys were represented by Rónán Gallagher, who ran very well, finishing 19th out of his age group and 2nd on the Donegal team. The U-15 girls were represented by Ciara Murray, also running out of her age group. The best performance of the day came in the U-17 girls competition, with Niamh Kelly and Brónach Gallagher representing the club. Niamh had an excellent race finishing in 3rd position, picking up an individual bronze medal. Brónach also ran well picking up a medal in 8th position. Both girls also picked up gold medals on the Donegal team, finishing first in the team event. Well done to all athletes and parents who travelled to this event. A special word of thanks to the trainers who have had a very successful cross country season in the club this year. Good luck to all athletes travelling to the indoor competition in Magherafelt this weekend.
