Busy Bank Holiday weekend for Cranford Athletic Club.

Cranford AC had three athletes travel to Lifford to compete in the Lifford Strabane Throws Fest on Saturday, with fantastic weather and a real festival atmosphere spectators got a real treat.
Blathnaid Gallagher got the day off to a great start winning the Girls U14 shot and Javelin getting a new PB in both events great start to the season for this young girl.
Aoife Giles also got her day off to a great start winning the shot with a throw of 10.92 and second in the Discus in the Girls U 16. Orla Neely had a good day coming 5th in her shot-and 3rd in her Javelin this is a great way to start the track season for these girls.
On Sunday morning the club had 10 athletes and 2 coaches take part in a coaching and development workshop run by Athletes Ireland which took place in Finn Valley AC center this was a great day with every club in Donegal represented.
On Monday morning it was the turn of letterkenny AC to host the Donegal Juvenile Championship uneven ages, again we were very lucky with the weather. Cranford had 12 athletes compete at the first track and field event of the season their was great team spirit and the athletes could not wait to hit the track.
Cranford had a very successful day on and off the track.
Aoife Giles got off to a great start winning the shot U17 and getting a new seasons best of 11.34 and claiming the title of Donegal champion.
We were well represented in the girls U 15 with Orla Neely, Blathnaid Gallagher, Clodagh Neely,Teresa Mullen, Nazara Mc Fadden and Jessica Cullen.
Oral Neely and Blathnaid Gallagher both competed in the shot and Javelin U 15 both girls got on well with orla getting a bronze medal in the Javelin and Blathnaid went on to take bronze in the 800m later in the day. Clodagh Neely also had a good performance in the 800m coming home in 2nd place.
Teresa Mullen was back in form with a leap of 4.86m in the Girls U15 long Jump claiming the gold medal and Donegal title. Nazara had a good run in the 200m this being a new event for her. Jessica competed well in both the 200m and long jump great to see our new athletes competing so well.
We had 3 girls representing us in the girls U13 Miah Fletcher, Ellie Mc Fadden and Amy Cullen. Miah had a great run in the 600m and when the gun went there was no stopping her she led from start to finish great running by this young girl. Ellie had a great run in the 80m and made it to the final but just missed out on a medal. Amy was in great form and this her first ever long jump competition jumping over 4m claimed a bronze Donegal medal great performance and one to watch.
Caolan Mc Fadden had a great race in the boys U13 600m led from the start to the finished great performance this early in the season.
Oisin Kelly has a strong run in the boys U17 800m two laps of the track coming home in 2nd place a fine performance from this young lad.
This ended a great and busy weekend for Cranford Athletics and coaches.
