Three Ulster Titles for Cranford AC. Coyle, Mc Gee and Mc Bride rise to the occasion at Ulsters.

What a great weekend for our young juveniles athletes  had at the Ulster U9 -U13 which was held in Derry hosted by Olympic AC .

First up was our U9 athletes, were Sarah Coyle our only girl in this age group took to the track for her 300m and put in a gutsy run under very warm conditions, Sarah finished in the top 10 in her turbo Javelin.

Our U9 boys were our in force with Faolán Caldwell, Oisin Giles, Seamus mc Closkey and Charlie Rogers they definitely  rose to the occasion were Faolán took silver in the long Jump and bronze in the 300m, Oisin finished an impressive 7th place in his long jump  Faolán and Oisin came 2nd team overall in the long Jump and now go on to the Nationals in August.  Charlie had a great run in his 60m sprint, Charlie and Faolán finished 2nd team and now qualify for the Nationals. Seamus had a good run in his 300m finishing in a impressive 11th place in Ulster.

With the weather getting warmer the competition was heating up as well, our U11’s  took to the track  Cassie Finnegan competed well in her first ulsters with a impressive 11th place in her long jump.

Our boys U11 were Ben Mc Gee,Matthew Giles and Rory Boyce, these boys competed very well with very big numbers in each competition Ben Mc Gee was crowned Ulster Champion in the long jump followed closely by Matthew in 6th and Rory in 9th. Ben and Matthew won the team event and now go on to the Nationals in Tullamore in August. Matthew had a great run in his 60m winning his heat in an impressive 9.91 seconds and Matthew and Ben came 3rd team overall, they now look forward to the National in both events.

Next up was our U11’s which were Niamh mc Geever, Oisin mc Bride and Lorcan Boyce, Niamh had a great long jump finishing in 12th place overall. Oisin had a great 600m with very tight competition and came out on top and was crowded Ulster Champion.

Lorcan was impressive in his long jump with a 12th place finish.

Cranford AC had four boys representing us in the U12 age group, Jerry Coyle,

Ciaron Cooney, Dylan Finnegan and Odhran McGroddy.

Jerry Coyle had a fantastic day with Gold in his 60m sprint and Gold in his long Jump, Double Ulster Champion, Jerry now goes on now to compete in the Nationals, great results and one to watch.

Dylan had a busy day, and competed well in all his events in this his first ulsters, turbo javelin was his best event on the day but much more to come from him.

Ciaron had a top 10 finish in his long jump and a great 600m which was great to watch fighting to the finishing line.

Our U13 were in good form also with Karen Neely finishing in 7th place in her Javelin.

Killian Caldwell was 6th in his Javelin  with a good throw over 13m and also ran in the 600m .

Cliodhna mcBride was in great form today good to see her back to herself, Cliodhna was 3rd in her long Jump, 2nd in her 600m and 3rd in her 60m not a bad day work taking home 3 Ulster medals, now looking forward to the Nationals in August.
