Last Saturday saw five of our athletes travel to the Mary Peters Track in Belfast for the first day of the u18 and Senior NI and Ulster Track and Field Championships.

On what was a very early start our young athletes competed in the 1500m.

First up was Caitlin O’Hara in the u14 girls. Caitlin had a very good race and came home in a respectable 12th place in what was a very strong field of girls.
Next up were our u14 boys.  Oisin Kelly ran a very tactical race staying with the lead pack throughout before taking off with just over a 100m to go to win the race and claim the Gold medal and Ulster title. Another brilliant performance from this exceptional young athlete so well done to Oisin on another Ulster title. Oran McMenamin also had a very good race coming home in 6th place with Johnny Trearty finishing strongly to come home in 9th place.
Eoin Kelly was our only senior athlete and had an excellent run in a fairly new event to this talented young athlete to claim Gold in the u19 400m hurdles.
Thanks to coach Rose Gavaghan for her support on the day and to the parents who travelled with the athletes.
Next week is all the other events in the u18 NI and Ulster championships and we wish our all athletes good luck.
