Three Ulster Titles for Cranford AC at the Ulster / NI indoor Championships.

On what was a two day event the Ulster and Northern Ireland indoor Championship took place in Athlone. A early start on sat morning 6 of Cranford AC Athletes made the journey down to Athlone IT indoor arena. Teresa Mullen got the day off to a great start winning the Girls U14 long jump this is the second year that Teresa won this title Ulster champion in this event Teresa goes on now to the Nationals in March. Teresa went on to make the final in the 60m and ran a very good 800m a very good day for Teresa.
Miah Fletcher was back in form today running a very fine 600m staying with the leaders from the start and powering down the home straight to take 2nd place in the Girls U12 600m. This qualifies Miah now for the National in March.
There was no stopping Caolan Mc Fadden in the Boys U 12 600m Caolan led from the Gun and with a lap to go he was extending his lead with every step, Caolan went on to come 4th in the long Jump. Caolan will go on to the Nationals now in both events.
Orla Neely was up next in the Girls U14 Shot putt, Orla is improving with every competition and with another new PB of over 7m keep up the good work Orla also ran a good 800m.
Nazara Mc Fadden had a very good 800m good to see Nazara coming back to form again.
The Girls U 14 Relay Team of Nazara Mc Fadden, Teresa Mullen, Orla and Clodagh Neely put in a fitting performance coming in 4th place in their heat just missing out on the final.
Day 2 got off to a good start with Clodagh Neely competing in the Girls U13 Shot put finishing in 5th place Clodagh went on then to compete in the 600m finish in the the middle of the field.
Next up was Aoife Giles, Aoife got the indoor season off to a great start now putting a heavier shot in the higher age group throwing well over 10m earning her self the Gold medal and the Ulster title 2018. Aoife now qualifies for the Nationals in March
Sophie Curran was our only girls U15 800m Sophie got off to a great start and stayed with the leaders for 3 laps just running out of steam coming down the home straight finishing in 8th place.
Last up for Cranford was the duo of Oisin Kelly and Oran McMenamin in the Boys U15 800, both boys got off well with Oisin leading for 2 laps, and Oran tucked in behind the leading group of this 4 lap race, pace picked up and both boys battled hard to the end Oisin finished in 3rd place and Oran finishing in 6th. Oisin now goes on to compete in the National Championships in March.
