Saturday last saw Cranford Athletic Club travel to Jordanstown Belfast, to
participate in the Ulster Cross Country Even Age Groups. On what was a blustery
day, Cranford had some fine individual and team performances.
Starting the
day for Cranford were our u/10 girls with some very fine running, Nazara Mc
Fadden led the girls home in 7th place followed by Annie mc Groddy, Caoimhe
Neely,Ciara Donnelly,Orla Neely and Caoimhe Browne. This was enough to secure
these Girls Bronze Medals. Great running Girls. Next was the u/10 Boys who had
an outstanding performance Max Roarty led the way home, coming home in 2nd
position and followed by Cian Mc Menamin in 3rd position, followed by team-mates
Keelin Mc Fadden, Connor Neely and Ben Fox these young athletes claimed Gold
medals coming 1st in the team event. What a great achievement for these
Boys.
The u/12 Girls were represented by Caitlin O Hara, and Aoife Giles who
both had good strong runs. Cranford’s performance of the day came from Oisin
Kelly who had a fantastic run, storming home in first place taking the Ulster
title out of his age, followed by team mates Allan Neely, Johnny Trearty, Oran
Mc Menamin,Liam Donnelly and Killian Browne.
The u/14 girls were represented
by Molly Trearty 14th and Rionach Giles 24th both girls getting county Medals
and Michelle mc Devitt all girls having good strong performances. Next was our
Boys u/14 with a very fine performance from Johnny Mc Groddy coming in 6th
place, followed by his team-mates Dylan Dorrian,Eoin Moore, and Barry Donnelly
with good strong runs.
The u/16 Girls were well represented by Julie
Trearty,Eleanor Trearty and Ciara Murry who all ran well as did the clubs only
u/16 boy Kevin Logue who finished 7th well done.
Niamh Kelly finishing 23rd
and Grace Trearty 25th in the girl’s u/18 well done girls. Lucy Backus was our
only senior lady with an impressive run coming in 22nd.
Well done to all
Athletes, parents and coaches who travelled and good luck to all in the next
upcoming Ulster’s.
