Cranford AC Notes.

The Champions cup was held at the Finn valley center on Sunday last, despite wet conditions 22 enthusiastic Cranford athletes travelled to represent the club at this team event.
This first event of the season gave our athletes an opportunity to have an early season race and an introduction for our new athletes.
Racing started for our under 9 girls running a challenging 500m race these girls had a great first race of the season with Maisey Mc Fadden and Olivia Curran coming home together in 15th and 17th with Niamh McGeever also lining up. Well done to these young girls.
Lorcan Boyce and Matthew McFadden ran a fantastic race challenging well together until the end finishing in a strong 28th and 33rd place respectively.
The under 10 boys were all warmed up and ready for their 600m race and the 3 boys lined up together, Odhran McGroddy ran a great race finishing 9th with Ciaran Cooney next in the line up, Jerry coyle was running well until he was tripped at the 300m mark and couldn’t recover but will be ready for our next run out.
Cliodhna McBride and Karen Neely both ran well over their 800m challenge with cliodhna fighting throughout for a medal place, cliodhna just missed out on a gold medal finishing in silver medal position with Karen having another great race finishing 17th. The under 11 boys did not disappoint Eathan Henderson representing the club for the first time over their 800m course working well with team mate Killian Caldwell to finish 19th and 18th well done boys, a great start to the season.
The under 13 teams were well up for their 1200m challenge and all put in great performances, two golds with Caolan McFadden and Miah Fletcher with Ellie McFadden and Amy Cullen both having great first races of the season finishing 8th and 9th.
The under 15 girls team were the only team of the day but succeeded by winning the bronze medal team place, great personal performances by all these girls over a challenging 1500m course. Clodagh Neely lead the team home in 5th place closely followed by Jessica Cullen (7) Blathnaid Gallagher (12) and Orla Neely (14) , great racing today from this team. The final race of the day had Oisin Kelly and Oran Mc Menamin representing the club in the u17 race over 2k, following on from a very successful schools competition on Tuesday these boys ran an exciting race finishing 3rd and 5th.
We look forward to seeing all our athletes at training on Tuesday and Thurs
