What’s Happening...

Last Saturday saw five of our athletes travel to the Mary Peters Track in Belfast for the first day of the u18 and Senior NI and Ulster Track and Field Championships.     On what was a very early start our young athletes competed in the 1500m. First up was Caitlin O'Hara in the u14 girls. Caitlin had a very good race and came home in a respectable 12th place in what was a very strong field of girls. Cranford at the     On Sunday the 4th of June, the peace link Clones, Co Monaghan ,hosted the Children's Games & U 12 & U 13 Ulster & NI Championships. Cranford AC had 24 of our young athletes compete in what was very high standard of competition, the best of Ulster came out in force to compete for Ulster medals and titles.     Cranford AC had two teams travel to Finn Valley in Stranolar last Sunday to compete in the Donegal Juvenile Relay Championships.   It was a lovely morning and first up were our U13 Girls Clodagh Neely, Teresa Mullen, Nazara MC Fadden and Caoimhe Neely. In what was a very competitive field of athletes, Clodagh ran a good first leg handing over to Teresa who powered down the back straight handing the baton over to Nazara who ran a great bend who then handed over to Caoimhe who had a very good last leg bringing the team home in 4th place, narrowly missing out on a ... read more..
  Sent from my iPad Six of our young athletes travelled to Stranolar on Wednesday evening to compete in the Donegal Children Games hosted by Finn Valley.  On what was a fine evening, good conditions for competing, Karen Neely was up first in the Girls U9. Karen had a good run in the 300m and got a PB in the long jump, jumping 2.35m.  Killian Caldwell was up next in the Boys U9. Cranford AC Athletes were very busy over this last week with a number of Athletes representing their secondary schools in Antrim, an open meet in Lifford and Day 2 of the Donegal Championships in Letterkenny. Last Wednesday 4 of our Athletes travelled to Antrim to compete in the District C Ulster Finals. Molly Trearty competed in the senior 1500m with a fine performance coming home in 7th place. Johnny MC Groddy had a great race coming home in 4th place just missing out on a medal. Good performances from Cranford AC at the Donegal Juvenile Championships   On what was a scorcher of a day Cranford travelled to Templemore Sports Complex in Derry on Sunday for Day 1 of the Donegal Juvenile Championships.   Caolan McFadden had a great day where he ran in the 60m final and won the Silver medal, jumped 3.98m to win Gold in the long jump and had a great run in the 600m to win Bronze. Cranford AC perform well at the Little Athletics in Finn Valley   On what was a beautiful sunny evening our young athletes travelled to Finn Valley for the Little Athletics competition on Wednesday and with over 400 children competing it made for a great meeting.   Our youngest athlete on the night, Orla Cunningham, got off to a great start qualifying for the 60m final where she had a great race.   Karen Neely performed very well in all events and was unlucky not to win a medal in the 300m where she had a real battle to the end and was just pipped on the line ... read more..
Cranford Athletic Club Golf Classic Cranford Athletic Club held their first ever Fundraiser Golf classic in Dunfanaghy Golf Club on Friday the 21st of April with great success. The Club would like to thank everyone who sponsored teams,Tee Boxes and gave donations. Thanks to Dunfanaghy Golf Club for the use of there course and to all the staff who helped out on the day.
