What’s Happening...

  Cranford AC Notes. Cranford AC travelled to Derry to compete in The Paddy O Donnell Track and Field Memorial Open Meet. It was a very mixed day weather wise with all seasons rolled into one. Our under 9's were in fine form with Michael Moore picking up medals in all 4 events, 60m, 300m, long jump and turbo javelin. Diarmuid Gallagher and Caolan Caldwell also done well in their events. In the girls u/11 Clodagh Neely had a great turbo javelin winning a gold medal with a throw of 9.87m. Cranford AC do Well at Donegal Children Games. We had  eight off  our young athletes travel to FV to compete in the Donegal Children's  Games. First up was our U/9  boys with Diarmuid Gallagher and Michael Moore, Diarmuid had a good run in the 300m and a fine jump in his long jump. Michael had  a great jump getting 2nd place and also taking bronze in the 60m sprint. Well done boys keep up the good work.   Good night for our 'Little Athletes' at Finn Valley Tuesday night saw our young athletes make the short journey to Finn Valley for their annual little athletes competition. Our U8 athletes competed in various events with Karen Neely having a great run in the 60m sprint where she made it to the final and James McDaid and Killian Caulfield also competing well in the 60m sprint and 300m. Cranford AC duo take Gold and Silver at the National Indoor Championships in Athlone Four of Cranford AC's finest young athletes travelled to Athlone last weekend to compete in the National Indoor Championships. First up on Saturday morning was Max Roarty who competed in the boys U/12 long jump, with a fine performance just missing out on the last 8. Next up was Aoife Giles  in the girls U/13 shot putt, with a outstanding throw of 10m 26cm and getting a new Pb claimed a national silver medal. Well done Aoife. Cranford AC do well at the Glaslough Road races Sunday last saw a large group of young athletes travel to Glaslough in County Monaghan for the yearly road race event on what was a lovely sunny day. First up was Killian Caldwell and James McDaid in the u8 boys race with both boys running very well with Killian winning a bronze trophy. Miah Fletcher was up next in the u10 girls race where she had a great run winning a silver trophy. Success for Cranford AC at Ulster Indoor Championships in Magherafelt Last weekend saw our athletes travel to Magherafelt for the Ulster Indoor Track and Field Championships. This was the first indoors for some and with the event being ran over two day some athletes had to make the journey to Magherafelt on both days. We got off to a great start in the boys U/12 long jump with Max Roarty winning a bronze medal with a fine jump of 3m 56 cm followed closely by Cian McMenamim with a jump of 3m 14 cm.
