Cranford AC   Sunday last saw the second day of the Donegal Championships Uneven Age hosted by Finn Valley where the weather couldn't have been kinder to the large crowd of athletes and supporters who attended.   First up for Cranford AC were our U9 girls and Cliodna McBride, on her first race for the club, got the day off to a great start coming home in a brilliant 2nd place closely followed by Karen Neely, Tara McGarvey, Orla Cunningham, Cliona O'Connell and Emma McGee. Cranford Ac get season off to a great start in Carndonagh Sunday saw the start of the Cross Country season in Carndonagh where the wet and windy conditions didn't put off the big crowd of athletes that braved the elements to compete in the first of the Donegal Championships hosted by Inishowen AC. First up for Cranford AC was Bridie Trearty in the Masters race. Bridie had a great run over the 3500 course and stayed with the lead pack throughout to claim a Bronze medal in what was a very fast competitive race.   Cranford AC perform well at Ulster's. Another great weekend for Cranford AC Athletes at  the Ulsters. Three of our talented Athletes travelled to Mary Peters Track to compete in the U14-U18 Ulster championships. Aoife Giles was up first in the Girls U14 shot put. Aoife had a great throw of 11.65m getting a silver medal, missing out on Gold by 1cm. Aoife then went on to throw the Javelin and  had a great throw of 23.93m winning Gold and claiming the Ulster title. Last Saturday saw five of our athletes travel to the Mary Peters Track in Belfast for the first day of the u18 and Senior NI and Ulster Track and Field Championships.     On what was a very early start our young athletes competed in the 1500m. First up was Caitlin O'Hara in the u14 girls. Caitlin had a very good race and came home in a respectable 12th place in what was a very strong field of girls. Cranford at the     On Sunday the 4th of June, the peace link Clones, Co Monaghan ,hosted the Children's Games & U 12 & U 13 Ulster & NI Championships. Cranford AC had 24 of our young athletes compete in what was very high standard of competition, the best of Ulster came out in force to compete for Ulster medals and titles. On what was a early start to a very busy and long day with mixed weather conditions.     Cranford AC had two teams travel to Finn Valley in Stranolar last Sunday to compete in the Donegal Juvenile Relay Championships.   It was a lovely morning and first up were our U13 Girls Clodagh Neely, Teresa Mullen, Nazara MC Fadden and Caoimhe Neely. In what was a very competitive field of athletes, Clodagh ran a good first leg handing over to Teresa who powered down the back straight handing the baton over to Nazara who ran a great bend who then handed over to Caoimhe who had a very good last leg bringing the team home in 4th place, narrowly missing out on a ... read more..
  Sent from my iPad Six of our young athletes travelled to Stranolar on Wednesday evening to compete in the Donegal Children Games hosted by Finn Valley.  On what was a fine evening, good conditions for competing, Karen Neely was up first in the Girls U9. Karen had a good run in the 300m and got a PB in the long jump, jumping 2.35m.  Killian Caldwell was up next in the Boys U9.
