Cranford AC at the National Inter County Club and B’s Championships An early start for our Athletes heading to Tullamore on Saturday morning. First event was the shot put U14 where we had Orla Neely competing Orla threw very well with a throw of 7.59 m getting placed 6th overall Orla is well on her way back to form once again.   Three of our finest athletes travelled to the home of Tullamore Harriers to compete in the National Juvenile Championships Track and Field eventsOur athletes showed that they can compete with the best in Ireland, first up was Caolan Mc Fadden in the long jump and while Caolan had a very good jump of 3.94m he didn’t jump his best on the day but enjoyed the event and gained some great experience which will stand to him in further competition. Three Ulster Titles for Cranford AC Athletes at the NI & Ulster Championships. Cranford had 5 Athletes travel to Mary Peters Track in Belfast to compete in the Northern Ireland & Ulster Championships. It was a early start and a very changeable day weather wise we had rain hail and sun over the day. Successful Day at Ulster Championships for Cranford AC. Cranford AC had a great day out on Sunday last coming home with 7 Ulster Medals at the Ulster Children Games and 12-13 ages. The day got off to a great start with Jerry Coyle setting the standard winning both the long jump with a leap of and the U9 boys 300m. Jerry lead from the gun and there was no stopping him powering down the home straight earning him the title of double Ulster champion 2018. Cranford AC at the Paddy o Donnell memorial Track & Field Event and… Cranford AC at the Paddy o Donnell memorial Track & Field Event and the Donegal Championships Relays. What a beautiful Day for the Paddy O Donnell Memorial Track & Field Event, with a 11am start the 1500m was the first race of the Day, we had Oisin Kelly and Oran McMenamin both boys got off to a good start staying with leading pack and Oisin made the long run for home with 2 laps to go and won comfortably with the race behind for the rest of places Oran had a great finish taking the bronze medal. Great start to the Track and Field season when 20 of our Juveniles athletes travelled to Stranolar to compete in the Little Athletes competition run by Finn Valley Athletic Club. We had some new faces competing in the younger races and all ran very well. Well done Maggie Mc Bride and Ellis O’ Connell in the u9 girls. Our U9 boys were Jerry Coyle and Odhran Mc Groddy - both boys doing well in the 300m with Odhran getting a new Pb in the long Jump, Jerry had a very impressive night and went on to win the 60m, 300m and long jump. Cranford AC had three Athletes travel to Lifford to compete in the throws festival which was run by Lifford Strabane AC. On a day that had all four seasons rolled into one, first up was the Discus - this was a new event for our three girls. First to throw was Orla Neely in the Girls U14 where she threw over 10m, a great start for this event. Aoife Giles and Megan Hegarty also got on very well with Aoife winning a silver medal and Megan in her first competition for Cranford had some very good throws. Teresa Mullen made the long journey to Athlone to compete in the National indoor championship  Girls U14 long jump Teresa got three good jumps in and got her self into the final  8 with another three jumps and came away with an impressive 4th place just missing out on the bronze medal.
