Cranford AC Notes  Cranford AC has three athletes travel to Compete in the second Ulster spring Throws Festival held in Finn valley center last weekend. All girls competed in the shot in their age group Aoife Giles who came 2nd with a good throw of  11.36 Orla Neely who came 3rd in her age group With a throw of 8.05 and Blathnaid Gallagher who got a new Pb of 5.65m.  Good luck to our Athletes who compete this weekend in Athlone at the National Indoor Championship, Aoife Giles, Teresa Mullen, Oran Mc Menamin and Oisin Kelly.  read more..
Successful day for Cranford at Glaslough races Sunday saw a strong team of athletes travel to the home of Glaslough Harriers club to compete in the annual Glaslough races in the beautiful setting of the historic Castle Leslie estate. Our team of athletes were well prepared for this competition and lined up along with a competitive field of athletic clubs. Friday night saw many of the Cranford athletes gather to celebrate the years successes both on and off the track.  Cranford AC is going from strength to strength, we anticipate next years presentation night to be hotly contested with so many talented young athletes. Our MC for the night was Myles Gallagher where once again he was in great form and full of knowledge and kept everyone interested with his stories. Three Ulster titles for Cranford at the Ulster Indoor championships as Kelly and Giles shine. Cranford had six athletes travel to the Abbotstown Indoor arena to compete in the Ulster and NI championships. Saturday morning got off to a great start for Cranford AC and Aoife Giles who got a new PB of 11.89m getting her the gold medal and the Ulster title for the girls u16 shot. Aoife had great consistency in her 4 throws and now qualifies for the National indoors at the end of March. After what was a cold and very wet day, Cranford AC had 12 athletes who braved the weather and made their way to Templemore Sports Complex for Olympian AC’s winter track and field competition. Starting off the day on the track was the U8 50m and what ended up a great start was our only U8 of the day Faolán Caldwell picking up a silver medal. He later went on to pick up a second silver medal in the 200m. Kicking off the field events was our U11 athletes Cliodhna Mc Bride and Killian Caldwell in the long jump.   Cranford AC Notes   Nine of Cranford AC athletes travelled to Dundalk last Sunday to compete in the National B's Cross Country championship. On what was a frosty morning, our U11 girls took to the field in the first race where both Cliodhna McBride and Karen Neely got off to a good start on what was one lap of this 1,000m course. Cliodhna came home in a very respectable 32nd place finishing well up the field followed home by her team mate Karen. Well done girls.
