What’s Happening...

Cranford AC notes   All roads led to Waterford for our 6 Cranford AC Athletes who took part in the National  B's and Masters Cross Country Championships on what was a good but tough cross country course. Our two under 11 girls Clodagh Neely and Blathnaid Gallagher were first to take to the course and with over 120 girls starting the girls didn't get a great start but both managed to move up the field battling to the end with Clodagh finishing in 25th position and Blathnaid in 77th.   On what was a cold and frosty start to the weekend Cranford made the journey to the Meadowbank  Sports Arena in Magherafelt for the Ulster Indoor Championships which is run over two days.   First up on Saturday were our U/12's with Oisin McNulty who had a great jump in the long jump getting his personal best and a good run in the 600m fighting to the line. Aidan MC Fadden also competed in the long jump and 600m. Aidan did very well coming back to his fine form again. Clodagh Neely ran in the 600m with a fine performance just fading coming up the home straight. Well done ... read more..
Cranford AC's Bridie Trearty who competed at Gransha Co Derry last Saturday in the Ulster & N Ireland master Cross Country Championships. Cranford AC travel to the Indoor North West Championships in Athlone IT Cranford AC had a early start for the long journey to Athlone for the Indoor North West Championships last Friday. Teresa Mullen got the day off to a great start when she won gold in the u12 long jump with a brilliant jump of 3.93m. Conor Neely also had a great jump of 3.92m to claim silver in the u12 boys long jump with Max Roarty, Cian McMenamin, Ryan McMenamin and Caolan McFadden all jumping well. CRANFORD AC BOXING DAY RUN The Annual Boxing Day run took place in Cranford Park on 26th December for the Bill Hunter and Winifred Gallagher Memorial Races. It was a great way to run off the Christmas Dinner. Starting off were the handicapped juveniles races where Michael Moore had a great run winning the underage race followed home by Diarmuid Gallagher, Karen Neely and Ryan McMenamin. The next race was run over 2 laps of the 1200m course where 18 competitors took to the start, it definitely blew the cobwebs off these young talented athletes, where Caolan McFadden took up the lead ... read more..
Cranford's AC Impress at Cross Country National Championships with Oisin Kelly taking National Title at Dundalk. All roads led to Dundalk at the weekend for the National Uneven Age Cross Country Championships, the athletes having to qualify out of Ulster to compete in this event. Our U/11 were up first and for these 3 young athletes it was their first ever National Cross Country competition. The U/11 girls were up first with Miah Fletcher having a great race coming home in 14th place and earning herself a Ulster Team Gold Medal and with Miah having another year in this age is definitely one ... read more..
  Some great performances from Cranford AC at the Even Age National Cross Country Championships On what was a cold but dry day Cranford AC travelled to the beautiful new purpose built Cross Country track at Abbotstown in Dublin for the Even Age Cross Country Championship last Sunday. First up was Teresa Mullen in the u12 girls race. Teresa has a great race in what was her first National Championships and finished very well after a good strong run. Successful Day for Cranford AC at the Donegal Inter County Relays. Cranford Juveniles had a highly successful weekend at the Donegal inter county relay championships. First up was our under 10 boys, with Ryan McMenamin, Michael Moore, Caolan McFadden and new comer Alex Geastowski All boys ran well with Ryan running the first leg keeping in contention with the leaders, Michael ran a very strong leg to hand over to Caolan MC Fadden who left nothing in the tank who handed over to new comer Alex running very well in a very exciting last leg with all three medals up for grabs. Great day for Cranford AC at the NI and Ulster Uneven Age Cross Country Championships The cold and wet day didn't do anything to dampen spirits at the Uneven Age Cross Country Championships for Cranford last Sunday where they came home with a large number of medals. First up were our u9 athletes where Karen Neely and Diarmuid Gallagher both had great runs and were rewarded with individual medals. In the u11 girls Miah Fletcher and Clodagh Neely both ran out of their skins and kept with the leading pack throughout the race to come home in 5th and 7th place earning the girls well deserved ... read more..
