Donegal Gold for Cranford U14 Girls Team The even ages Donegal Championships were held on Sunday last at St Davogs GAA club near Castlederg. This was a challenging cross country course over hills and rough ground which suited the Cranford athletes well. Cranford turned out 29 enthusiastic athletes who travelled to the event and they did not disappoint. Cranford U 8 boys ran 600m on this challenging course to finish well up in their field, this was the first run out for this Cranford team and the boys had a great first run out. Cranford AC Notes. The Champions cup was held at the Finn valley center on Sunday last, despite wet conditions 22 enthusiastic Cranford athletes travelled to represent the club at this team event. This first event of the season gave our athletes an opportunity to have an early season race and an introduction for our new athletes. Racing started for our under 9 girls running a challenging 500m race these girls had a great first race of the season with Maisey Mc Fadden and Olivia Curran coming home together in 15th and 17th with Niamh McGeever also lining up. Congratulations to our Athletes who competed this weekend in limerick at the National Community Games. Aoife Giles got silver in Discus and Amy Cullen 4th in the long jump. Orla Neely competed well in the javelin. Cranford AC finished up the Track and Field season with our two girls relay teams travelling to Tullamore to compete in the National Relay championship. Our U15 girls were up first and got the day off to a great start with Clodagh Neely powering out of the blocks running the first leg handing over the baton to Amy Cullen who ran a great leg down the back straight, passing the baton to Orla Neely who ran a very impressive bend handing over to Jessica Cullen who ran a strong last leg battling to the finishing line with the girls coming 4th in their heat just missing out on the final bu ... read more..

Cranford AC Notes. On Saturday 28th June, Cranford had 9 athletes travel to Tullamore the home of Tullamore Harriers to compete in the National Track and Field Championships. These athletes had to qualify in Ulster to compete against the very best in Ireland . After some thundery downpours to start the day, the weather cleared to be a hot and sunny afternoon for competitors. Oisin Kelly of Cranford AC does the double at Ulsters. On what was a very wet and cold day Cranford AC had 7 athletes travel to the Mary Peters Track in Belfast to compete in the N Ireland and Ulster Track & Field Championship. Teresa Mullen got the day off to a great start winning the long Jump U15 with a new PB of 5.09m and claiming the Ulster title. Teresa now goes on to compete in the Nationals in July. Jessica Cullen was up next and in her first Ulster competition she gained vital experience competing at this level. Finn valley center played host to the 2019 Ulster championships on Sunday 2nd June , Cranford AC had a good turnout of enthusiastic athletes parents and supporters. the weather was changeable for the athletes with some strong winds to run against and sunshine too. This event also incorporated the Children’s games and U12/13athletes.  The club members saw some great individual and team performances but not always evident on the medal wins.
