What’s Happening...

Cranford AC had 3 athletes compete at the Donegal Championship on Wednesday evening at the FV centre.

The evening got under way at 7pm sharp and the weather stayed dry the sun even made an appearance. These athletes were delighted to get back on the track to compete. Karen Neely and Cliodhna Mc Bride took to the track first, both girls ran well in the 60m where Cliodhna came 2nd in her heat and Karen came 5th both girls went on then to compete in the 600m where the girls put in a fine performance Cliodhna claiming the bronze medal bat ... read more..

Cranford AC back in action at Donegal Championships.

Last weekend saw the return to competitive competition for Donegal athletics and the Cranford athletes were keen to participate.  Saturday was the time for the seniors and under 17 to compete at Finn Valley and Sunday the Under 14 upwards represented Cranford at the Aura. Cranford scored well on the medal table with a total of 15 medals in the 2020 Donegal Championships.

t athlete to take to the road was our U8 boy Faolan Caldwell and with a great finish crossing the line in 5th place and earning a well deserved medal.

Next up was Niamh Mc Geever in the U10 girls race and with a uphill finish Niamh did well to come home in 15th place.

Three Ulster Champions for Cranford AC. 12 senior athletes made the arduous journey to Abbottstown athletic arena Dublin for the Ulster & Northern Ireland Indoor athletic Championships. The event was held over two days, the committed Cranford coaches supporting their athletes on both days. After early starts and long journeys the Cranford athletes demonstrated their determination by performing to the best of their abilities. Well done to our athletes who competed so well today at the Ulster school’s district x country in Finn Valley. They were all representing their school Milford Community School. Miah Fletcher, Clodagh Neely, Oisin Kelly and Oran Mc Menamin go on to represent their school in Belfast on 17th February. Cranford Athletes Honour Mr. Frankie Casey Our senior Juvenile athletes gathered at the Rosapenna Hotel last evening to Honour Frankie Casey for the use of training grounds at Tramore Downings to train in a safe and enjoyable environment for the last 22 years. Oisin Kelly National champion made a presentation of a beautiful engraved crystal whiskey set to Frankie on behalf of all at Cranford Athletics Club. The Donegal Athletics Board hosted their Annual Awards in Finn Valley tonight Saturday 11th January.

Congratulations to our Six  Cranford athletes who received their awards

Cliodhna Mc Bride, Miah Fletcher, Caolan McFadden,Teresa Mullen, Aoife Giles and Oisin Kelly all who were nominated by the club following their successes in the 2019 season.

North West Games held in Athlone IT Saturday 28th December The Christmas season ended for Cranford AC with a last run out this year.This event was a good introduction to the indoor season ahead for our older athletes. With a very early start this ensured the dedicated athletes were well over their Christmas dinner. Amy Cullen and Ellie McFadden both competed in the Under 14 girls 60m sprint and did well in their heats but unfortunately did not gain any medals but an opportunity to perfect their starts and gauge their form.
