What’s Happening...

Cranford A.C. had a very successful day on Sunday last at the uneven age Ulster Cross Country event held at Fintra, Killybegs. The U-9 girls and boys had a bit of a rushed start but finished well with lots of medals for Aoife Giles, Caoimhe Browne, Orla Neeley, Oisín Kelly, Oran Mc Menamin, Cian Mc Menamim and Luke Donnelly. The U-11 girls revealed a new star for the club with Molly Trearty coming in 3rd in her first Ulster appearance. Well done to Molly who was followed home strongly by Lisa Dugera 26th, Holly Mc Elwaine 31st, Aobha Gallagher and Cliodhna Mc Cotter-Kelly. The ... read more..
Saturday last saw Cranford A.C. set off for the beautiful setting of Rostrevor, Co. Down for the even age Ulster Cross Country. A bright sunny day saw the Cranford athletes put in some great performances. First off were the U-10 girls with Lisa Dugera finishing 18th, Aobha Gallagher 33rd and Aoife Giles 47th. This was a great experience for these young girls. Next the U-10 boys had a very good performance with Oisín Kelly collecting the first of the clubs medals getting an individual 8th place. Well done to all Cranford athletes who competed in the recent Track and Field Meeting in Finn Valley. Many thanks to parents and Rose who did a great job on a bitter cold evening. U 10 Girls Competing in this age group, many for the first time, were Aoife Giles, Orla Giles, Caoimhe Browne and Aobha Gallagher. All girls competed well, with Aobha Gallagher coming 2nd in the Ball Throw and Aoife Giles coming 3rd in the Long Jump. Sunday 14th Oct saw a big turnout of athletes in Killybegs for the Donegal uneven age Cross Country event. Cranford A.C. got off to a very promising start with the U-9 girls and boys. The U-9 girls ran very well with Aoife Giles 12th, Ciara Donnelly 13th, Caoimhe Browne 20th and Orla Neely 24th. The boys had a great result in this age group with young Oisín Kelly coming 1st, Liam Donnelly 2nd, Martin Dugera 10th and Cian,Oran and Ryan Mc Memamin coming in strongly in the middle of the field. Saturday last saw Cranford Athletic Club travel to Rostrevor, Co. Down, to participate in the Ulster Cross Country Even Groups. On a blustery day, Cranford had some fine individual and team performances. Starting the day for Cranford was Aoife Giles in the U 10 girls, who had a good steady run and a good strong finish. Sunday last saw a large group of Cranford athletes take part in the Donegal Even Ages Cross Country event. On a beautiful sunny day in the Rosses, conditions were perfect for cross country running. The U-8s started with good runs by Michael Moore and Ryan Mc Menamin in the boys and Clodagh Neely picked up the first medal for Cranford in the girls, with Blathnaid Gallagher just missing out on a medal. Sunday last saw Cranford athletes participate in the Donegal Cross Country Uneven age group in Castlefin. In all, over 30 athletes took to the field in good running conditions in Castlefin.

First out for the club were the U-9 Girls, who were led home by Nazara Mc Fadden in 6th place and Ciara Donnelly in 11th. They were followed home by Caoimhe Browne,Orla Neely,Blathnaid Gallagher,Abbie Mc Ginley and Clodagh Neely.Well done girls. The U-9 boys were led home by Max Roarty in 3rd and Cian Mc Menamin in 5th. On Sunday last, a young group of talented Cranford athletes travelled to Finn Valley to compete in this years Ulsters’ track and field events for children U9 - U13. All athletes put in their best performances and were awarded with great results in return.

First to take to the track were the relay teams and as usual these did not disappoint. The U10 boys relay team consisting of Cian McMenamin, Oisin Kelly, Liam Donnelly and Martin Dugera stormed home to claim a gold medal.
