What’s Happening...

On what was a wet and cold evening, it was the turn of the even ages tonight. First up was the girls u/10 we had Blathnaid Gallagher competing in all three events, Blathnaid had a great run in both the 60m and 500m getting silver in both and a bronze in the turbo javeline. Next up was Aidan mc Fadden in the boys u/10 who had a great run in the 500m claiming second place. Our girls u/12 were Aoife Giles and Caitlin o Hara, Aoife continued her good form winning the shot and 3rd in the 60m and 600m Caitlin came 2nd in both the shot and the 600m. Cranford AC at Templemore Sports Complex in Derry Last Thursday evening saw a large group of Cranford athletes travel to Derry for the Track and Field Open Competition hosted by Olympian AC. Our U9 boys of Caolan McFadden, Ryan McMenamin and Aiden McFadden all did very well with Caolan winning gold medals in the long jump, 80m and 300m and Ryan winning gold in the turbo javelin, silver in the long jump and bronze in the 300m. Last weekend saw Christopher Murray compete in the senior men's 800m on Saturday in the Ulster Track and Field championships where he had a good strong race. On Sunday it was the turn of our U14 athletes. First up in the javelin was Eoghan Moore and Dylan Dorrian. After some great throwing Eoghan was declared the bronze medal winner with Dylan in 4th place and both boys now will travel to Tullamore in July to compete in the Nationals. Congratulations to Oisin Kelly who was awarded the John Carlin Schools Athletic Award for outstanding boy in the recent schools athletics held at Finn Valley. Oisin stood out for being outstanding in a number of his events on a day that attracted 1,300 children. ... read more..

Cranford AC at Ulster Track and Field Championships On what was perfect conditions for running Cranford AC travelled to Lifford to compete in the Ulster children games under 9, 10 and 11. We had 14 athletes who all had great performances, some who were performing for their first time in competition. We got off to a great start with our boys under 9 Caolan McFadden and Ryan McMenamin, both boys performing very well. Cranford AC compete at Donegal Juvenile T&F Champions in Lifford Last Sunday saw the U12-U18 athletes travel to Lifford to compete in the Donegal Championships on what turned out to be a very wet and miserable day. In the U12 girls Aoife Giles continued her winning streak by claiming gold in shot put and silver in the turbo javelin with Orla Neely also throwing well in the shot put.
