Ulster Even Age Cross Country championships in Jordonstown 24/10/15 Saturday last saw a large group of Cranford athletes travel to Jordonstown for the even age cross country championships on what was a good flat but very muddy course. First up were the u10 girls where Clodagh Neely had a great race coming home in 11th position closely followed by Eimear Breen in 15th, Aoibhinn McGinley in 25th and Blaithnaid Gallagher in 27th place which earned these girls a Silver team medal which was a great achievement for these young athletes. Good day for Cranford AC at Donegal Uneven Ages Championships in Finn Valley Sunday last saw a large group of Cranford athletes make the short journey to Finn Valley to compete in the Donegal championships on what turned out to be a beautiful day for running. First up was Christopher Murray in the Novice men's race where he had a good strong run finishing well up the field. Our only competitor in the u9 girls race and making her debut for Cranford was Miah Fletcher who had a brilliant race and claimed Cranfords first gold medal of the day. Cranford AC Juveniles shine at the Donegal Championship's in Carndonagh. On what was a dry warm day, with a flat fast course, Cranford athletes travelled to Carndonagh, to Compete in the masters and even ages Donegal Championship's. First up was Bridie Trearty in the master ladies. This was Bridie first run out in a few years and had a great race ending up in 7th overall and 2nd in her age group, good to see her back. Tommy McBride Memorial road races Last Saturday evening saw the Tommy McBride juvenile races take place. The U9 girls race was won by Karen Neely of Cranford AC. In the U9 boys race saw another Cranford runner coming home in 1st place with Caolan McFadden winning the race closely followed by Lois Murray from St Peters AC in Lurgan in 2nd place and Shaun Rooney from Dublin in 3rd place. In the U11 girls Sarah Rooney from Dublin won the race with Nazara McFadden from Cranford AC in 2nd place and Grace Rooney from Dublin in 3rd. Cranford AC News. Aoife Giles of Cranford AC gets Gold at the Juvenile Track and Field Championships in Tullamore. Cranford AC had two competers, travel to Tullamore last weekend to compete in the Juvenile Track and Field Championships. First up was Aoife Giles in the Girls under 12 Shot putt, Aoife got into the last eight and was laying,in 3rd place for most of the competition and with her last throw, of 9m 12 cm she took a well deserved gold. Last weekend saw six of Cranford AC juvenile athletes travelled to Tullamore,to compete in the national juvenile championships. To compete at this level you have to qualify out of Ulster. We had some fine performances from our six athletes. Liam Donnelly and Oisin Kelly competed in the long jump, with Oisin narrowly missing out on a bronze medal by a few cm.Oisin was not to miss out on a medal in the 600m he got off to a great start, and with 200 m to go there was only four left at the front to fight for the medals.
