Cranford AC Notes
Kelly of Cranford AC takes home Ulster Title U 15

Sunday last saw a strong squad of 26 entusiastic athletes travel to Scotstown Monaghan for the NI & Ulster cross country championships uneven ages.A beautiful crisp dry day greeted the team when we arrived at scotstown and the conditions were perfect for cross country.
The under 11 girls were well prepared for this 1200m course and were well placed on the start line. From a large field of 80 athletes these girls put in a fabulous team performance with the team gaining fourth place which qualifies them for the National championships in December. We had two great individual performances with Cliodhna McBride and Leah Gallagher coming home in 9th and 10th, the team included Karen Neely, Beth McClaffery and Emma McGee. Great performance at this Ulster championships for these young promising athletes.
Michael Moore, came 21st in the boys under 11, Killian Caldwell and Diarmuid Gallagher also competed in the large field of under 11 boys and finished in the middle of the field.
The under 13 girls ran a challenging 2 km course which was now heavy going under foot. This is a promising team of enthusiastic girls who worked well together to finish this course. Miah Fletcher finished in 4th place with Clodagh Neely 21st which gained these girls places on the winning Donegal team. Followed home by team members Ellie McFadden, Mevagh McBride, Blathnaid Gallagher, Aine Ni Connell, Meabh ni Connell, these girls ran a very strong race, Joycelyn Diver ran well but could not finish due to illness.
Four promising young boys lined up for the under 13 boys race again over this 2k course. Caolan McFadden was first home for this team and a very respectable 8th place, Eoin Friel (30) Aiden McFadden and Ryan Mc Menamin all put in fine performances finishing well up this large field of Ulster competitors caolan was on the winning Donegal team very well done to him.
Under 15 girls were ready for the next challenge of 3 laps of this 1000m course, again another gutsy team performance from these girls
who have lots of potential, Caitlin OHara, Nazara McFadden, Orla Neely and Teresa Mullen. All put in good performances. Our final competitors for Cranford did not disappoint, Oisin Kelly running in great form looked comfortable throughout and well challenged by a competitive field. Oran Mc Menamin recently returned from injury ran well. Oisin won a well deserved gold medal, under 15 Ulster champion and now looks forward to the National championship in December.
Well done to all our athletes who competed so well today and give everything.
Thanks to our coaches,Eamon Giles,Ernie Mc Elhiney,Joe Boyce Rose Gavaghan and Birdie Trearty. Thanks to all our parents who travelled and helped out on the day we look forward now to the Nationals in two weeks time in Abbots Town Dublin.
