Cranford AC finished up the Track and Field season with our two girls relay teams travelling to Tullamore to compete in the National Relay championship. Our U15 girls were up first and got the day off to a great start with Clodagh Neely powering out of the blocks running the first leg handing over the baton to Amy Cullen who ran a great leg down the back straight, passing the baton to Orla Neely who ran a very impressive bend handing over to Jessica Cullen who ran a strong last leg battling to the finishing line with the girls coming 4th in their heat just missing out on the final but getting a new PB knocking over 3 seconds off their fastest time.
The weather turned for the worst and the rain was belting down by the time the girls U14 took to the track but these girls put in a fine performance with Clodagh again getting a good start passing to Ellie McFadden who ran a very good second leg, handing over to Jessica who kept her own on the bend and Blathnaid Gallagher had a great last leg with these girls ending up 6th in their heat under difficult conditions.
The girls had great baton changes and will gain great experience and showed they can compete with the best in Ireland.
Thanks to the coaches and parents who travelled on the day and for their continued support. We will now take a well deserved summer break and will be back on Tuesday 27th August at 6.30pm in Cranford Park to start the cross country season. New members welcome.
