Cranford AC had 4 athletes travel to Tullamore to compete in the National Juvenile Championship where the best in Ireland gathered under blue skies.  The club was well represented with Teresa Mullen Clodagh Neely, Orla Neely and Oisin Kelly.
The girls all gained valuable experience competing at this level, Teresa not being a stranger to All Ireland’s went in carrying an injury but still gave it her best in the long jump but falling short this time. Clodagh finished 12th in Ireland in her Javelin and had a good throw getting a competition PB with this her first All Ireland’s in this event and we are going to see more of Clodagh in the future. Orla competed in the Javelin and things just didn’t go her way on the day but Orla will be back even stronger.
Another National medal and superb performance for Oisin Kelly with a bronze medal in the 1500m. Oisin had a great race and coming off the bend with 100m to go it could have been any of the top 3 runners, Oisin fought to the very end and was rewarded with a 3rd place finish, two national medals in a week for this very talented young athlete and these athletes are great role models for the rest of the young athletes in the club.
Next week sees the turn of the National inter county relay teams in Tullamore and we would like to wish our two teams the best of luck.
Thanks to the coaches who travelled and for their continued support training the athletes and for the parents for their support and encouragement of the athletes.
