Cranford AC perform well at the Juvenile B and Masters Cross Country Championships in Dundalk

Sunday last saw a large group of athletes make the early start to travel to Dundalk IT for the Juvenile B, Masters and Inter county relays championships.
First up were the U11 girls where the girls all had a great race and were led home by Nazara McFadden closely followed by Eimear Breen, Clodagh Neely, Aoibhinn McGinley, Caoimhe Neely and Orla Neely all running well with the girls coming 5th team overall.
Next up were the u11 boys with Cian McMenamim putting in a very gutsy performance to take home a 7th place individual medal with Conor Neely also having a great race coming in 27th place which secured these boys a silver county team medal. Aidan McFadden and Caolan Curran also put in very strong performances and both had a great finish.
Sophie Curran was our only competitor in the 13 girls race with Sophie having a good strong run and finished well up the field.
The u13 boys team of Allan Neely, Oran McMenamim, Johnny Trearty and Killian Browne all ran very well and put in a good strong performance on what was by now a very heavy mucky track.
Molly Trearty got a great start in the u15 girls race and kept with the leading group throughout earning herself a well deserved 7th place individual medal.  Hannah Logue also ran a good solid race.
Eoin Logue had a great run in the u15 boys race and was unlucky not to win a medal coming in a respectable 16th position.
There were more medals in the u17 boys race with Kevin Logue and Eoin Kelly both having very impressive runs finishing in 9th and 10th place and with the other Donegal athletes all performing well won a Gold county team medal.
Max Roarty was up next running this time in the Donegal colours in the inter county u12 boys relay. Max had a great 3rd leg but unfortunately with too much ground to make up the team eventually finished in 5th place. This was a great experience for Max to represent his county and with him running a year out of his age there’s no doubt he’ll feature again in this team next year.
Molly Trearty was also a sub on the u14 girls relay team that secured a gold medal with some great running from the girls so well done to them.
The final race of the day saw Bridie Trearty make a welcome return to National championships with Bridie having a brilliant race and after a gritty performance and a strong finish came home in 5th place.
Thanks to all the athletes and parents that travelled and the coaches Eamon Giles, Joe Boyce, Rose Gavaghan and Bridie Trearty for all their support.
