Last weekend saw six of Cranford AC juvenile athletes travelled to Tullamore,to compete in the national juvenile championships. To compete at this level you have to qualify out of Ulster.
We had some fine performances from our six athletes.
Liam Donnelly and Oisin Kelly competed in the long jump, with Oisin narrowly missing out on a bronze medal by a few cm.Oisin was not to miss out on a medal in the 600m he got off to a great start, and with 200 m to go there was only four left at the front to fight for the medals. Oisin had a great finish battling down the home straight to take home a bronze national medal. This is Oisin third national medal this year.
Aoife Giles had a good throw in the girls u/12 turbo javelin throwing over 20m with a impressive 10 place overall. Killian Browne was next up in the u/13 boys javelin, this was Killian’s first nationals at this event and had a very good performance.
Eoghan Moore and Dylan Dorrian competed very well in the boys under 14 javelin Eoghan got into the last 8 throwing over 30m. These boys came 7 and 9 overall.
Christopher Murray competed on Sunday in the 800m U/23 with a good strong run.
Well done to all these young athletes.
