Cranford AC at the Donegal inter county relay championship.

On what was a lovely November morning Cranford made the short journey to Stranorlar the home of Finn valley athletic club who were hosting the Donegal senior cross country and inter county relay championship, with over 70 juvenile relay teams this competition is going from strength to strength.
Our U10 girls were up first and these girls coming of the back of their ulster last weekend were up against tight competition, Karen Neely got out well from the whistle and made good progress through the field handing over to Cliodhna mc Bride, who fought hard and took to the lead, Emma Mc gee and Orla Cunningham ran well and put in a great performance to hold on to 3rd place and came home with a well deserved bronze medal the girls now qualify for the national relay championship early next year.
Our U10 boys got off to a good start with killian Caldwell handing over to Jerry Coyle who had a good race with orharn Mc Groddy running well with Colin running the anchor leg and battling well coming home in 4th place.
Our U12 girls were up next our team of Meabh O Connell, Leah Gallagher, Ellie Mc Fadden and Mevagh Mc Bride worked hard throughout the race and showed great determination coming home in 7th place.
Our boys u12 were up next with Michael Moore,Diarmuid Gallagher,Caolan McFadden and Ryan Mc Menamin they give a good account of themselves and came home in 8th place.
We had two teams representing Cranford in the Girls U14, great running from these two teams, with Joycelene Diver, Clodagh Neely, Nazara Mc Fadden, and Teresa Mullen putting in a fine performance and battling hard to come home in silver medal position, the team of Orla Neely, Jessica Cullen, Aine O Connell and Blathnaid Gallagher gave a good gutsy performance finishing well in 9th place.
Well done to all our athletes who took part and done so well. Thanks to our coaches and to all the parents who travelled and helped out on the day.
Next up is the ulsters championship uneven ages which will be held in scotstown Co Monaghan this weekend, good luck to all our athletes.
