Sunday morning saw a good crowd of Cranford athletes travel to the Templemore
Stadium in Derry to take part in the Olympian AC Winter Track and Field Open
Competition.

First up was the U9 boys which saw Cranford get off to a
great start in the 60 metres race with Caolan McFadden winning gold and Ryan
McMenamim winning bronze. In the 300 metres Caolan won his second gold medal of
the day with Ryan winning a silver medal.

In the U11 girls 60 metre race
it was Nazara McFadden who won gold for Cranford with Caoimhe Browne coming in
5th position. Nazara had a great day winning another gold in the 500 metres race
and a silver medal in the Turbo Javelin. Caoimhe also done very well winning a
silver medal in the long jump and bronze in the Turbo Javelin.

In the
U11 boys events there were more golds for Cranford with Max Roarty winning gold
in the 60 metre sprint and 500 metre race, gold in the long jump and a bronze in
the Turbo Javelin. He was closely followed by Cian McMenamim who won bronze in
the 60 metres, silver in the 500 metres, silver in the Turbo Javelin and silver
in the long jump.

Next up were the u13 girls where it was good to see
Marcella Dolan back to her winning ways coming home with a gold in the 60
metres, silver in the 600 metres and silver in the long jump.  She was closely
followed home by Aoife Giles who came away with a bronze in the 600 metres, gold
in the shot put and a bronze medal in the long jump.

In the u13 boys
events Cranford had more success with Liam Donnelly winning silver in the 60
metre sprint, silver in the 600 metres and a bronze medal in the long jump. Oran
McMenamim came 5th in the 60 metres, won a bronze medal in the 600 metres and
was 6th in the long jump. Johnny Trearty also had a good day coming in joint 5th
in the 60 metres, 4th in the 600 metres and 5th in the long jump. Killian Browne
also did very well winning a silver medal in the shot put and came 4th in the
long jump.

Next up for Cranford were the u15 girls where Molly Trearty
won a bronze medal in the 80 metre sprint, gold in the 800 metres and a silver
medal in the long jump. Rionach Giles did very well coming 4th in the 80 metres
and winning a silver in the 800 metres. Barry Donnelly was our only u15 boy.
Barry started the day off well winning gold in the shot put and in doing so got
a Personal Best, gold in the long jump and a well placed 6th place in the 800
metres.

Eleanor Trearty had a good day claiming a bronze medal in the 80
metre sprint, a gold in the 800 metres and a gold in the long jump.

Our
only senior athlete was Christopher Murray who had a great race winning gold in
the senior 800 metre race.
