Ulster Even Age Cross Country championships in Jordonstown 24/10/15

Saturday last saw a large group of Cranford athletes travel to Jordonstown for the even age cross country championships on what was a good flat but very muddy course.

First up were the u10 girls where Clodagh Neely had a great race coming home in 11th position closely followed by Eimear Breen in 15th, Aoibhinn McGinley in 25th and Blaithnaid Gallagher in 27th place which earned these girls a Silver team medal which was a great achievement for these young athletes.

Next up was the u10 boys with both Caolan Curran and Aiden McFadden running very well and came home in 13th and 15th place respectively.

Our u12 girls of Caitlin O’Hara, who ran a great race and came home in 25th place, Sophie Curran in 30th, Nazara McFadden in 33rd, Ciara Donnelly, Aoife Giles, Orla Neely, Caoimhe Neely and Caoimhe Browne all ran very well and won a Bronze team medal.

Next up was the u12 boys with Oisin Kelly once again coming home in 1st place and winning a gold medal closely followed by Max Roarty in 10th, Liam Donnelly in 12th, Cian McMenamim in 16th, Oran McMenamim, Conor Neely and Johnny Trearty which earned these boys a Gold team medal. Oisin, Max and Liam were also part of the Gold medal winning Donegal team so there were medals galore for these talented young boys.

In the U14 girls race Molly Trearty ran very well coming home in 18th position followed by Hannah Logue who also had a good race.

The U14 boys all ran very well and were led home by Allan Neely closely followed by Barry Donnelly, Eoghan Moore and Killian Browne.

Ciara Murray was our only u18 girl where she had a good steady run.

In the u18 boys race Kevin Logue ran very well to come home in 12th position after suffering a bad fall near the start of the race so well done to him.

Congratulations to all the athletes that have qualified for the all Ireland championships in Santry in November.

Thanks to the coaches Eamon Giles, Joe Boyce, Ernie McElhinney, Rose Gavaghan and Bridie Trearty for all their support and to all the parents who travelled today.

Next up is the Ulster uneven age championships in Stranolar on the 8th November.
