Sunday last saw a large group of Cranford athletes take part in the Donegal Even Ages Cross Country event. On a beautiful sunny day in the Rosses, conditions were perfect for cross country running.

The U-8s started with good runs by Michael Moore and Ryan Mc Menamin in the boys and Clodagh Neely picked up the first medal for Cranford in the girls, with Blathnaid Gallagher just missing out on a medal. Well done to our promising young athletes.

Our U-10 girls did well with strong runs from Annie Mc Groddy,Orla Neely,Aoife Giles,Ciara Donnelly and Caoimhe Browne. The U-10 boys had a fantastic run and picked up team gold medals with Oisín Kelly finishing 1st, Liam Donnelly 2nd,Max Roarty 9th and Cian Mc Menamin 15th. Well deserved medals for these boys, who were well supported by Tony Trearty and Oran Mc Menamin.

The U-12 girls were next out, with the run of the day from a Cranford point of view coming from Molly Trearty, who finished 1st to claim the gold medal.Well done Molly. The U-12 boys had an equally impressive run with Conor Black finishing 1st and his twin brother Stephen finishing 2nd,Johnny Mc Groddy 3rd and Martin Mc Garvey 10th. This secured team gold medals for these talented boys who were well backed up by Eoghan Moore,Allan Neely,Dylan Dorrian and Cillian Browne. Good to see Dylan back competing again after being injured last season.

The U 14 girls were well represented with Julie Trearty putting in a fine performance finishing 10th, followed by Rionach Giles 13th and Niamh Mc Devitt 18th. A good run by all these girls who were unfortunately missing some of their team-mates.

Ciara Murray had a good strong run in the U-16 girls and Eoin Kelly had another great run for his club finishing 2nd in the U-16 boys. His sister Niamh Kelly also had a good run finishing 4th in the U-18 girls.
Lucy Bakus had a good strong run finishing 4th in the Ladies Novice.
The Novice Men were led home for Cranford by Liam Doherty 7th, followed home by John Sweeney, Paddy Fox, Anthony Sweeney and Eddie Gallagher.
A great day out was had by all and many thanks to all our coaches who deserve great credit.
