Good performances from Cranford AC at the Donegal Juvenile Championships

On what was a scorcher of a day Cranford travelled to Templemore Sports Complex in Derry on Sunday for Day 1 of the Donegal Juvenile Championships.

Caolan McFadden had a great day where he ran in the 60m final and won the Silver medal, jumped 3.98m to win Gold in the long jump and had a great run in the 600m to win Bronze. Aidan McFadden performed very well In all his events and Oisin McNulty also had a good day where he came away with a Bronze medal after jumping 3.60m in the long jump.

Clodagh Neely had a very good day where she came 3rd in the u12 Girls shot put, 4th in the 60m final and 3rd in the 600m. Blaithnaid Gallagher is running very well and this showed in her gutsy performances in both the 60m final and the 600m where she came home in 5th place.

Teresa Mullen continued her good form by winning Gold in the 60m final and Gold in the long jump with a jump of 4.18m.  Nazara McFadden had a very strong run in the 800m where she came home in 4th place followed by Teresa in 5th and Orla Neely in 7th. Orla also won a bronze medal in the Javelin with a throw of 11.09m. Caoimhe Neely put in some good performance in long jump and the 60m sprint final.

Conor Neely came home with a Bronze medal in the Javelin with a great throw of 15.40m and performed well in the 60m sprint and long jump.

Aoife Giles won a silver medal in the Shot Put with a great throw of 11m.

In the u14 boys there were medals all round when Oisin Kelly had a brilliant run in the 1500m with a time of 4.56 winning the Gold Medal with Oran McMenamin also having a great race to claim Silver and after a strong final lap Johnny Trearty won the Bronze medal. Oisin also won Silver in the long jump with a PB of 4.78 and won his second Gold of the day in the 800m. Cian McMenanin put in a real gutsy performance in the 800m when after falling on the first lap, got up and dusted himself off before going on to finish in a credible 5th place.

Allan Neely also had a good day where he won a silver medal in the 1500m.

Molly Trearty put in a strong performance in the 1500m and was rewarded with a Bronze medal.

Thanks to all the parents and coaches Eamon Giles and Rose Gavaghan for travelling to Derry on what was a very hot but enjoyable day.
