Cranford U14 girls Gold medal winners at Donegal relay championships at Finn Valley centre on Sunday.

A fine bright day saw Cranford back at the Finn valley centre for the Donegal relay championships. Cranford had 6 teams representing the club at the county championships. A well laid out cross country track saw each team compete over 500m x 4 against stiff competition from all Donegal clubs.
Under 10 girls were all lined up in their team colours and ready for this challenging course, Sadie McGettigan, Tara McGarvey, Katie McBride and Olivia Ni Curran ran a fabulous race coming home 4th in Donegal. Great race to watch girls. Under 10 boys again ran an exciting race with Luke Murray, Jerry Coyle, Ciaràn Cooney finishing off on a strong leg was Odhran McGroddy. This team also finished in 4th place.
Under 12 girls were up next with a big field of athletes in this race and with a good performance from Beth mc Clafferty, Cliodhna McBride Karen Neely and Emma McGee these girls finishing strongly in 7th place.
Under 12 boys also put in a fine performance in this Donegal championship with Michael Moore getting off to a great start Daithi Cannon had a great run handing over to Diarmuid Gallagher who kept in intention with the leading pack and killian Caldwell ran strongly these boys were unlucky not to medal in this race well done boys.
Last to run for Cranford today were our two under 14 girls teams who all put in great gutsy personal performances over this challenging 500m track which now was muddy underfoot. First out of the blocks for Cranford was Miah Fletcher gaining a great lead, Clodagh Neely maintained the lead, Jessica kept this momentum going and Ellie McFadden finished off the opposition by finishing in gold medal position.
The second team representing in Cranford today were Amy Cullen getting off to a good start, Joycelene Diver ran a strong second leg handing over to Mevagh McBride again had a strong 3rd leg gaining a strong position for Blathnaid Gallagher who brought the team home in 6th place for Cranford great running by these two girls teams.
A great day out for all Cranford runners.
As always we would like to thank the coaches and parents who travelled and helped out on the day.
The club will have early start for this weeks Ulster uneven ages & international cross country championships which will be held in Dondonald Belfast this weekend. Good luck to all our athletes.
