Cranford Athletes and Coaches in Shercock.

On what was a very early start on Sunday morning, Cranford Athletes made the journey to Shercock Co. Cavan, for the Ulster Children Games u/9 to u/13.  All 21 Athletes compeated very well in their events with some very impressive performances.

Our under 9 Girls were Blathnaid Gallagher and Clodagh Neely. Both girls doing very well in the Long jump and turbo javelin Blathnaid came 3rd in the turbo javelin getting a bronze medal at her first ulsters and both girls came in 3rd team and will go through to the all Irelands later this month. Well done Girls.

The u/1o girls Team were Nazara mc Fadden. Ciara Donnelly, Caoimhe Browne and Orla Neely, all Girls ran a Great 60m sprint with Nazara taking gold with a great time of  9.52.  Nazara and Caoimhe compeated  in the long jump with jumps off 3.20 and 2.52 respectivly . Great jumping  from both girls.

The u/10 boys were represented  by Max Roarty, Cian Mc Menamin and Ben Fox.  All three boys competed in the Long Jump with Max claiming gold with a leap of 3.43. Max and Cian claimed first team in this event. Both boys also claimed first team in the 500mts race. The boys will now focus on training for the All Ireland finals.

Aoife Giles was next out for the u/11 girls claiming silver in turbo javelin event with a throw of 11.81 and also jumped well in the long jump event.

In the u/11 boys, Oisin Kelly, Liam Donnelly, Oran Mc Menamin and Johnny Trearty were all outstanding in their events. They dominated the 500mts race with Oisin leading the way home with a very impressive run, claiming a well deserved gold medal. Oisin and Liam took first team place and  Oran and Johnny took third team place in this event. Oisin and Liam also took first and second indivdual in the long jump, with both boys jumping personal bests. This was a great achievement for these young boys.

The u/12 girls were represented by Marcella Dolan where she had two fine runs. This was Marcella’s first run out in the Ulster competitions, well done and were sure we will see more to come from this young athletic.

Allan Neely and Killian Browne were out for the u/12 boys. Allan had a strong run in the 600mts and a good throw in the shot putt as he is knew to this event. Killian was out in the 60mts, long jump and turbo javelin. Keep up the good work.

Molly Trearty was out for the u/13 girls with a good run in the 600mts.

Dylan Dorrian, Eoghan Moore and Barry Donnelly all represented Cranford in the u/13 boys. Dylan took home gold in the  long jump, silver in the 600mts and bronze in the javelin. This was an outstanding performance from this young athletic with a positive future ahead of him. Eoghan won gold in the javelin with a throw of 25.7, well ahead of his rivals. Barry threw 6.69 in the shot putt, which ranked him 8th overall, well done Barry.

The u/11 boys relay team were Oisin, Liam, Ben, Max and Johnny. They claimed silver in this event with great running from all boys. They will now prepare for the All Ireland  finals which are to be held on the 21st of June.
