Saturday last saw Cranford Athletic Club travel to Rostrevor, Co. Down, to participate in the Ulster Cross Country Even Groups. On a blustery day, Cranford had some fine individual and team performances.

Aoife Giles Molly Trearty 5thStarting the day for Cranford was Aoife Giles in the U 10 girls, who had a good steady run and a good strong finish. Next were the U10 boys, who had an outstanding performance. Oisín Kelly led the way home, coming home in 3rd position to claim an individual bronze medal. Next was Liam Donnelly who gave another impressive performance in 6th place, followed by Johnny Trearty 19th and Oran Mc Menamin 40th. This was enough to secure these boys silver medals in 2nd team position. Great running boys.

The U-12 girls were represented by Molly Trearty who ran an impressive individual race to finish in 5th position. Well done Molly. The U-12 boys were equally impressive, being led home by Conor Black in 1st place and Johnny Mc Groddy in 2nd. What a great achievement for a small club to claim gold and silver medals in this age group. Their team-mates Stephen Black and Dylan Dorrian finished 19th and 25th and these four young athletes claimed gold medals coming 1st in the team event. They were well supported by Martin Mc Garvey, Eoghan Moore, Allan Neely, Shane Coll and Barry Donnelly.

U 14 Girls U 12 Boys - Gold Team Medalists U 10 Boys - Silver Team MedalistsThe U-14 girls were well represented by Aoibhinn Lynch, Julie Trearty and Rionach Giles, who all ran well, as did the clubs only U-16 girl Ciara Murray.

Eoin Kelly had a good run in the U16 boys, finishing well up the field, as did his sister Niamh Kelly finishing 11th in the U-16 girls with Emer Trearty also having a good run.
Well done to all athletes, parents and coaches who travelled and good luck to all in the next upcoming Ulsters.
