Last weekend saw Cranford athletes travel to Athlone I.T. to participate in the National Indoor Championships. An outstanding performance by twin brothers Stephen and Conor Black saw the club claim gold and silver medals in the boys U-12 long jump. Stephen jumped an impressive 4.57m to claim gold, and in doing so broke the Irish record in this age group. His brother Conor jumped an equally impressive 4.51m to claim the silver position.

This was a just reward for the boys who were very unfortunate in the 600m in the previous days events, when they were both edged out of the track at the beginning of the race. Both boys very bravely continued the race even though Conor was badly grazed. Dylan Dorrian was also competing for the club in this event and he ran very well finishing 10th . Anna Mc Fadden was the only girl competing for the club and ran very well, just missing out in qualifing for the final heat in the U-14 girls sprints. Also competing for the club was Christopher Murray, who had a very fine race and just narrowly missed out on qualifying for the final heat. The club would also like to congratulate Cian Mc Bride, son of Brian Mc Bride, Umlagh, Carrigart (past club member) who ran a brilliant race to win gold in the U-18 1500m.
