Sunday last saw another successful group of Cranford athletes take part in the
Donegal Cross Country Uneven ages in Castlefin.
In great running conditions
the first of our athletes were the U 9 girls who got us off to a great start
with Clodagh  Neely, Blathnaid Gallagher and Saoirse O’Hara all having fine
runs.The U 9 boys were next with Keelin Mc Fadden having a great run in 2nd
place, followed by Ryan Mc Menamin in 8th and Michael Moore 18th. Great talent
for the future from these young boys.
The U 11 girls were lead home by
Caitlin O’ Hara who had a strong performance finishing 18th, followed by Nazara
Mc Fadden,Caoimhe Neely,Ciara Donneely,Aoife Giles,Annie Mc Groddy,Orla Neely
and Caoimhe Brown. One of the best performances of the day came from the U 11
boys, with an outstanding run from Oisín Kelly 1st, Liam Donnelly 3rd, Max
Roarty 4th, Cian Mc Menamin 10th followed by Oran Mc Menamin, Conor Neely,Johnny
Trearty and Ben Fox. What a great achievement to have four runners in the top
ten positions.This earned the boys gold medals coming in 1st in the team
competition. Well done boys.
Our next medal came from Molly Trearty, who came
3rd in the girls U 13 followed by Hannah Logue.
Another good team performance
came from the U 13 boys with a very impressive run from Johnny Mc Groddy who
claimed gold medal coming 1st in this race.His team mates were Eoin Moore 6th,
Dylan Dorrian 11th and Owen Logue 23rd, who were 2nd in the team competition.
They were well supported by Allan Neely, Luke Downey, Barry Donnelly and Killian
Browne.
More team medals followed for the U 15 girls who claimed silver
medals in 2nd place in the team competition.The team were Rionach Giles 9th,
Michelle Mc Devitt, Julie Trearty and Naimh Mc Devitt. Some good solid running
from these girls.
Our U 17 boys saw another outstanding performance, with
Kevin Logue storming home in first place to claim  another gold medal, followed
by Eoin Kelly 11th.
Our last team medals came from the U 19 girls who put in
some great performances to claim 1st place gold medals in the team event, with
great runs from Niamh Kelly,Grace Trearty,Eleanor Trearty and Ciara Murray. Well
done girls.
In the Novice section Lucy Backus had a fantastic run to claim
silver medal coming 2nd in this event.
The mens team performed very well
coming in 3rd in the team event with James Mc Fadden 10th, John Mc Faddden 15th,
John Sweeney 20th, Liam Doherty 21st and well supported by Christopher
Murray.
This was a great day out for a small club and all athletes performed
extremely well. Thanks to all parents and coaches who travelled on the day.
