Cranford AC compete at Donegal Juvenile T&F Champions in Lifford

Last Sunday saw the U12-U18 athletes travel to Lifford to compete in the Donegal Championships on what turned out to be a very wet and miserable day.

In the U12 girls Aoife Giles continued her winning streak by claiming gold in shot put and silver in the turbo javelin with Orla Neely also throwing well in the shot put.

In the U12 Boys Oisin Kelly won gold medals in the 60m, 600m and Long Jump, Liam Donnelly won silver in the 60m, Long Jump and shot put and bronze in the 600m and Oran McMenamim had a brilliant run in the 600m claiming 5th place.

In the u14 girls Molly Trearty ran a good race to win a bronze medal in the 800m with Hannah Logue and U13 athlete Marcella Dolan doing well in both the 60m and long jump.

The U13/U14 boys of Allan Neely, Eoin Logue and Killian Browne all competed well in the 800m, shot put and long jump all just missing out on medals.

In the U16 girls Rionach Giles ran very well in the 800m coming in 4th place.

Eleanor Trearty was our only U17/U18 girl and done well to win a silver medal in the 800m and 4th in the long jump with Kevin Logue our only U17/U18 boy very unlucky to miss out on a medal in 800m.

Cranford AC would like to congratulate John Kelly from Finn Valley on his brilliant performance today where he threw a massive 18.61m in the shot put which secured the standard for the Junior European Championships.

Thanks to all the athletes and parents who travelled to Lifford today on such a wet day and a special thanks to coach Rose Gavaghan and Joe Boyce for all their help.
