Saturday last saw Cranford A.C. set off for the beautiful setting of Rostrevor, Co. Down for the even age Ulster Cross Country. A bright sunny day saw the Cranford athletes put in some great performances.

First off were the U-10 girls with Lisa Dugera finishing 18th, Aobha Gallagher 33rd and Aoife Giles 47th. This was a great experience for these young girls. Next the U-10 boys had a very good performance with Oisín Kelly collecting the first of the clubs medals getting an individual 8th place. He was followed home by Liam Donnelly 21st, Allan Neely 30th and Oran Mc Menamin, Cathair Sweeney, Shane Coll, Killian Browne,Issac Mc Ilwaine and Luke Downey. Well done boys.

The U-12 girls gained good experience with all of the girls finishing strongly in the middle of the field being led home by Aoibhinn Lynch competing in her first Ulster competition for the club. Aoibhinn was followed home by Michelle Mc Devitt, Laura Dugera, Rionach Giles, Thea Duffy, Holly Mc Ilwaine and Cliodhna Mc Cotter-Kelly. The U-12 boys had the performance of the day collecting eight medals in all. They were led home with an impressive 5th place finish by Johnny Mc Groddy. Johnnys teammates also finished very strongly with Stephen Black 10th, Conor Black 15th, Dylan Dorrian 16th and Rónán Gallagher 17th followed by Martin Mc Garvey, Eoghan Moore and Barry Donnelly. This performance saw the boys win the team silver medals, with Johnny and Stephen both collecting individual and county medals. An excellent perfornance from these boys as most were out of their age group.

The U-14 girls ran well with a strong finish in the middle of the field with fine runs by Niamh Mc Devitt, Julie Trearty, Jessica Mc Ilwaine and Ciara Murray. Eoin Kelly the only U-14 buy had a great race finishing 10th and colleting an individual medal. Well done Eoin. The U-16 girls were well represented by Áine Green and Emer Trearty who both finished strongly.

Shannon Mc Groddy had a great run finishing 8th and collecting an Ulster team medal. And Christopher Murray also had a good run finishing strongly in the U-18 boys.

Well done also to Lucy Backus finishing 10th and 2nd in her category in her first senior race for the club.
Congratulations to all athletes who took part and many thanks to our trainers and parents. Looking forward to the next Ulster outing in Killybegs next weekend.
