Cranford AC Notes.

Another busy week for Cranford AC with Day 2 of the open meet in Derry and the Ulster’s at Mary Peters Track in Belfast.

Day 2 of Derry open meet, on a cool cloudy evening Cranford AC took to the track again.

First up was u 14 long jump with Max Roarty taking home sliver and Johnny Trearty, Cian McMenamin  and Conor Neely competing well. We had Caoimhe Neely in the girls long jump, jumping well.

Caolan McFadden got silver in the turbo javelin. Finishing off the field events was the shot putt where Aoife Giles kept up her good form with a gold medal, Orla Neely finished 4th and Allan Neely came 3rd.

Sprints were up next with Caolan McFadden, Max Roarty and Allan Neely all winning medals. The middle distance was next on the track and first up was the boys U/10 where we had 1st and 2nd with Caolan McFadden and Ryan McMenamin having a great race.  Our girls U/12 ran well with Clodagh Neely leading the girls home in 4th closely followed by Caoimhe Neely and Orla Neely. Our boys U/12 kept the medals coming with Max Roarty taking 2nd and Cian McMenamin  just missing out on a medal coming home in 4th place. Finishing the evening off was the boys U/14 800m with Allan Neely, Johnny Trearty and Oran Mcmenamin. All the boys had a great race with Allan leading the boys home in 2nd place, Johnny with a great finish coming in 3rd followed closely by Oran Mcmenamin. Thanks  to Coach Eamon Giles and all the parents who travelled.

Sunday saw three of our athletes travel to Belfast for the Ulster Track and Field Championships. First up was Christopher Murray in the senior men’s 800m. Christopher had a great race and was unlucky not to make the final. Next up was Kevin Logue in the u17 boys 3000m where he had a very impressive run and came home with a well deserved bronze medal. Last up was Molly Trearty in the u15 girls 1500m. Molly had a great race in what was a very strong field coming home in 7th place.

Next up is the National Children Games in Tullamore  where we have Michael Moore, Diarmuid Gallagher, Caolan McFadden and Ryan Mcmenamin.
