What’s Happening...

Amy Cullen and Ellie McFadden were the first to race today in the U15 100m sprint, both girls had a great run with Amy earning the first medal of the day in Silver place, well done Amy. Unfortunately Ellie had to retire from the further events due to illness.Diarmuid Gallagher performed well in the U14 800m, good effort from Diarmuid finishing 4th then Diarmuid followed that performance with a bronze medal position in the long jump.

Great weekend for Oisin Kelly, Oisin travelled to Morton Stadium, last Saturday to compete at the Irish Life National Junior & U23 Championship in the 800m, Oisin ran his heat in the morning and qualified for the final later in the day, Oisin had a great race, staying with the leading group for 600m with a battle to the finish claiming a National Bronze and a new PB 1.54.05, Oisin has another year in this age group.

Cranford AC News 

Two Athletes From Cranford AC traveled to Antrim to compete in the Open Throws Meet  at Antrim Forum last Saturday.

Both Girls Competed in the senior event.

Aoife Giles opened her season with a best throw in the Javelin of 23.72m ,

to claim her a silver medal, and her success carried over to the Discus where she threw 25.57m, Great start to the season for Aoife.

Cranford AC Notes. 

Fist ever Donegal combined championship great success.

The sun shone brightly as did the athletes performances 

Cranford athletes had a long awaited start to competition and hit the track with a bang.

The multi events consists off 5 Events starting with Hurdles, high Jump, long jump, shot put and ended with the 800m 

Ellie Mc Fadden and Amy Cullen competed in the girls U15 and put in some great performances in their events.

Great season opener for Cranford AC ‘S Oisin Kelly. 

Cranford AC’s Oisin Kelly travelled to Belfast to Compete in the Belfast Irish Milers Club Meeting at Mary Peters Track at the weekend. Oisin ran in the Men’s c 800m race and took victory with a new Personal Best of 1m :55:57 seconds knocking 4 seconds of his previous time. A great run and a great start to Oisin season. 

The club is looking forward now to some competition in the coming months ahead.

Due to planned restrictions in NI the NI and Ulster Cross Country Championships due to take place in Belfast next weekend have now been cancelled.  The is very disappointing for all our athletes who are a credit to the club.  The athletes are consistently training and improving their performances at each training session. Cranford AC Notes 

Cranford had 3 Athletes travel to the Finn Valley centre to compete in the Ulster open Throws Competition where athletes from all over Ireland came to compete and where the cream of the talent were today. It was great to have such a competition in the county. The sun was out and perfect conditions for this event. Orla Neely has a busy day competed in the Girls U16 Shot, Javelin and Discus which is a new event for her, and getting on well in all three events events and gaining some great experience. Clodagh Neely performed well in the Girls U16 javelin fin ... read more..

Caolan McFadden 1500m Ulster Champion
After their first week back in secondary school (Loreto Milford), following new guidelines and structure, three Cranford AC athletes travelled to Belfast to compete at the final phase of the NI and Ulster athletics Championships at the Mary Peters Track.  The team arrived to a beautiful evening in Belfast and did their warm up through the sprawling forest park surrounding the track.  Miah Fletcher ran in the second of the two heats in the U14 Girls 1500m, Miah ran a strong race in the 1500m finishing 3rd in her heat but not enough a meda ... read more..

The rain didn’t dampen the spirts off the Under 11 age group who took part in the Donegal Children Games held in FV centre on Wednesday last. 

Cranford AC had 3 Athletes travel and delighted to get a race in Jerry Coyle had a very successful evening going from strength to strength starting off the evening with bronze in the Turbo Javelin and storming home to won the 60m and equaling his Pb in long jump of 3.95m and claiming the title of Donegal Champion.
