What’s Happening...

Cranford AC Notes 


Due to planned restrictions in NI the NI and Ulster Cross Country Championships due to take place in Belfast next weekend have now been cancelled.  The is very disappointing for all our athletes who are a credit to the club.  The athletes are consistently training and improving their performances at each training session. Cranford AC Notes 

Cranford had 3 Athletes travel to the Finn Valley centre to compete in the Ulster open Throws Competition where athletes from all over Ireland came to compete and where the cream of the talent were today. It was great to have such a competition in the county. The sun was out and perfect conditions for this event. Orla Neely has a busy day competed in the Girls U16 Shot, Javelin and Discus which is a new event for her, and getting on well in all three events events and gaining some great experience. Clodagh Neely performed well in the Girls U16 javelin fin ... read more..

Caolan McFadden 1500m Ulster Champion
After their first week back in secondary school (Loreto Milford), following new guidelines and structure, three Cranford AC athletes travelled to Belfast to compete at the final phase of the NI and Ulster athletics Championships at the Mary Peters Track.  The team arrived to a beautiful evening in Belfast and did their warm up through the sprawling forest park surrounding the track.  Miah Fletcher ran in the second of the two heats in the U14 Girls 1500m, Miah ran a strong race in the 1500m finishing 3rd in her heat but not enough a meda ... read more..

The rain didn’t dampen the spirts off the Under 11 age group who took part in the Donegal Children Games held in FV centre on Wednesday last. 

Cranford AC had 3 Athletes travel and delighted to get a race in Jerry Coyle had a very successful evening going from strength to strength starting off the evening with bronze in the Turbo Javelin and storming home to won the 60m and equaling his Pb in long jump of 3.95m and claiming the title of Donegal Champion. Cranford AC had 3 athletes compete at the Donegal Championship on Wednesday evening at the FV centre.

The evening got under way at 7pm sharp and the weather stayed dry the sun even made an appearance. These athletes were delighted to get back on the track to compete. Karen Neely and Cliodhna Mc Bride took to the track first, both girls ran well in the 60m where Cliodhna came 2nd in her heat and Karen came 5th both girls went on then to compete in the 600m where the girls put in a fine performance Cliodhna claiming the bronze medal bat ... read more..



Cranford AC back in action at Donegal Championships.

Last weekend saw the return to competitive competition for Donegal athletics and the Cranford athletes were keen to participate.  Saturday was the time for the seniors and under 17 to compete at Finn Valley and Sunday the Under 14 upwards represented Cranford at the Aura. Cranford scored well on the medal table with a total of 15 medals in the 2020 Donegal Championships.

t athlete to take to the road was our U8 boy Faolan Caldwell and with a great finish crossing the line in 5th place and earning a well deserved medal.

Next up was Niamh Mc Geever in the U10 girls race and with a uphill finish Niamh did well to come home in 15th place.

Cranford was well represented in the boys U10 with Oisin Mc Bride leading the boys home in 3rd place with a great run closely followed by team mates Ben Mc Gee in 7th Rory Boyce in 9th all receiving medals for top 10 finish Matthew Giles and Lorcan Boyce ran very well and have ... read more..
