Some great performances from Cranford AC at the Even Age National Cross Country Championships

On what was a cold but dry day Cranford AC travelled to the beautiful new purpose built Cross Country track at Abbotstown in Dublin for the Even Age Cross Country Championship last Sunday.

First up was Teresa Mullen in the u12 girls race. Teresa has a great race in what was her first National Championships and finished very well after a good strong run. Unfortunately Clodagh Neely took unwell overnight so was unable to compete.

Max Roarty looked very impressive in the u12 boys race and kept with the lead pack throughout and was just pipped to an individual medal coming home in 13th place but was first home for Donegal and with the Donegal team all running well won a Bronze team medal and was third counter in the Ulster team that won a Silver medal. Cian McMenamin was the next Cranford runner home and was closely followed by Conor Neely, Caolan Curran and Aidan McFadden who all ran very well.

Oisin Kelly had a superb run in the u14 boys race and after a very strong finish where he overtook 4 or 5 in the home straight came home in 17th place which earned him a Gold Ulster team medal and a Bronze Donegal team medal.

In the 16 girls race Molly Trearty had a great race and had an outstanding second lap where she really dug deep to come home in 42nd place.

Our last race of the day was the u18 boys race where Eoin Kelly had a great run over the 6k course and looked very comfortable throughout coming home in 56th place with Kevin Logue also running well following closely behind.

Thanks as always to the coaches Eamon Giles, Ernie McElhinney, Rose Gavaghan, Bridie Trearty and Joe Boyce for all their hard work throughout the year and thanks to the parents who travelled for all their support.

Next up is the Uneven Age National Cross Country Championships in Dundalk in two weeks.
